Kids tasbeeh making activity
Tasbeeh (تَسْبِيح) is an Arabic term that means “glorifying” or “praising” Allah, means to glorify or to declare something free from imperfection.
In Islam, Tasbeeh refers to the act of remembering and glorifying Allah by repeating certain phrases, often on a string of prayer beads called a tasbeeh or misbaha.
Tasbeeh is a counting beaded thread used as a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) that involves the repetition of certain phrases
SubhanAllah (سبحان الله) – “Glory be to Allah”
Alhamdulillah (الحمد لله) – “All praise is due to Allah”
Allahu Akbar (الله أكبر) – “Allah is the Greatest”

Traditionally, people use a string of beads (also called tasbeeh or misbaha, like prayer beads) to keep track of the number of repetitions—usually in counts of 33 or 100.
If you are looking for a Ramadan activity or even a general fun activity to do with your kids, teach them how to make a prayer Tasbeeh with different beads.
Materials Needed:
-
Colorful beads (at least 33 or 99)
-
String, yarn, or pipe cleaners.I will use stretchy string . Use at least 10 inch string
-
Scissors
-
A small charm or button for the marker bead (to mark the starting point). I have used a cylindrical bead
-
A unique designed bead to mark the end of 33 beads. If you are making a smaller one, then we will add a marker after every 11 beads
- Colourfull tassels

Instructions:
-
Let the kids pick their own beads—different colors can represent different phrases.
- Pick a tassel and start beading in the cylindrical bead as a marker. You can add few more larger beads in the string .

3. Once we have enough beads in the string, pass a stretchy string from the loops of the Tassle beads so that it is crossing it and securing it.
4. Once the empty thread passed inside the loop of the Tassel thread, start adding 11 beads on one side
5. Add a fancy divider bead after 11 beads and add th next 11 beads followed by the fancy divider.
6 .Add 11 beads on the other side of the open stretchy string
7. Join both strands with a knot. Since we are using a stretchy string, secure it with multiple knots while you stretch the threads
8. Cut extra strings and insert them inside the fancy divider ( so that all loose threads are invisible)
Your Tasbeeh ( 33 beads) is ready to use.
If you are making a 99 beaded tasbeeh then use 33 instead of 11 and rest of process is same
📝 Extra tip: Use three different colors—e.g., 11 red (SubhanAllah), 11 blue (Alhamdulillah), 11 green (Allahu Akbar). This helps kids remember and repeat the phrases correctly.
